Initially when we started Mask-Four-Mask we wrongfully assumed anyone in need of donations would only want medical grade masks/PPE. “Wrongfully” being the key word in that entire statement.
It’s pretty obvious the market has become over saturated with fabric mask options (some better than others). Many of which were launched by people who don’t have direct access to medical grade masks or the supply chain necessary to produce them. As a result, these companies offer donation match for their fabric masks i.e. for every mask sold they donate a fabric mask. This is just as valiant and important an effort as what we had initially sought out to accomplish. The difference is, we actually DO have access to medical grade masks and the supply chain necessary to produce them. We planned to make use of that supply chain and offer donation match in a “hybrid” format i.e. for every (4) pack of our fabric masks sold we donate (4) medical grade masks.
When we launched our site inclusive of our Donation Sign Up page on 7/15/2020 we were overrun with requests for our fabric masks. Most of these requests came from Foster Care organizations as well as Veteran’s groups. We also received some requests from other human services organizations such as those that provide care to our nation’s ever-growing homeless population. As a result, we took a long hard look at ourselves and made the decision to begin donating our fabric masks to those organizations requesting them. Where there’s a need, we’re here to fulfill it.
So, if you’re wondering if your organization, hospital, or non-profit can request fabric mask donations the answer is, "hell yes". We have updated our Donation Sign Up page to include this in the mask type request field.
For some happy news, we are proud to share that we began shipping fabric mask donations last week and we could not be more excited about it. A huge thank you to all of our happy customers who hopped on board to support us at our earliest stage.
